I've recently released a new web app called Aetherium: a tool for creating evolving, space-inspired soundscapes that respond both sonically and visually to your input.
At its core, Aetherium is built around two oscillators and a range of intuitive controls. The goal was to create an environment where sound and visuals are closely connected. A space where tweaking a knob subtly changes not just the audio, but also the atmosphere of the whole experience.
Here’s a quick overview of the controls:
Stardust: A delay effect where mix and feedback are combined into one smooth control.
Complexity: Lets you choose the number of voices (up to 3) for a richer texture.
Atmosphere: A reverb control that adjusts both mix and tail together.
Spectrum: Detunes the oscillators to add width or subtle instability.
Luminance: A filter cutoff that shapes the brightness of the sound.
Galaxy: Selects the musical scale.
Key: Selects the root note of the sequence — either manually in the interface or by pressing a note on your favorite MIDI keyboard.
Pulsar: Adds vibrato for a nostalgic or slightly warbly feel.
Flux: Changes the speed of the generative sequence.
Dimension: Transposes the sequence by octaves.
To keep things explorative, I also added two randomization features:
RND SEQ: Generates a new random sequence based on the current key and scale.
RND ALL: Randomizes all parameters — sound, visuals, and sequence — often leading to surprising and inspiring results.
Try Aetherium
Whether you're looking to relax, experiment, or get inspired, Aetherium is designed to give you a space where you can drift and explore sound freely. And if you're using a MIDI keyboard, you can even set the root note on the fly — just press a key and Aetherium will pick it up.
